Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, building surfaces and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers say they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a individual observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say preliminary tests suggest the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; officials are not yet aware of any harm in connection with the event," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the public for details.
An important official stated the vandalism made him speechless and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine people by a shooter focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
